Terms & conditions

This page needs your legal wording before launch. Terms of sale are a legal document specific to your company, and they have not been written for you here — inventing them would be worse than leaving them out. The structure below is the standard set of clauses a UK consumer ecommerce site needs; have your solicitor or a service such as the Law Society or a template provider supply the wording for each heading, then replace this file’s content.

1. Who we are

Company name, registered address, company number and VAT number. These are not yet set in the site configuration.

2. These terms

What they cover, and that placing an order means accepting them.

3. Placing an order

When a contract is formed, order acknowledgement versus acceptance, and your right to reject an order.

4. Prices and payment

That prices include VAT, when prices can change, what happens if a product is mispriced, and which payment methods you accept. See also how our price comparison works, which explains the comparison figures shown alongside our prices.

5. Delivery

Delivery timescales, charges, risk and title passing. See delivery.

6. Cancellation, returns and refunds

Your statutory rights under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and the Consumer Rights Act 2015, plus anything you offer above them. See returns & refunds.

7. Faulty goods and guarantees

Manufacturer guarantees, and how they sit alongside your statutory rights.

8. Our liability

Limits on liability, and the losses that cannot be excluded in a consumer contract.

9. Your account

Keeping login details secure, and when an account may be suspended.

10. Complaints and disputes

How to complain, and any alternative dispute resolution scheme you belong to.

11. Governing law

The law and courts that apply.
