Privacy policy
This page needs your legal wording before launch.
A privacy notice is a UK GDPR obligation and must describe what your business
actually does with data. The sections below list what this website genuinely
collects, which is accurate and taken from the code — but the legal wording,
your ICO registration, retention periods and third-party processors must be
completed by you.
What this website collects
Accurate as built, today:
- A session cookie (named
mydiy) so your basket and sign-in survive between pages. It is strictly necessary and holds no personal data itself. - Your basket and favourites, held against that session until you sign in.
- Account details if you register: name, email address, phone number (optional), and a one-way hash of your password. Passwords are never stored in a readable form.
- Addresses you save to your account.
- Order details when you check out: name, email, phone, delivery address, what you ordered, the totals, and your IP address.
- Newsletter sign-ups: email address, sign-up date and IP address, if you sign up.
- Contact form messages: name, email, order reference, message and IP address.
This site sets no advertising or analytics cookies as delivered. Web fonts are requested from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts a Google server to fetch them.
What still needs completing
- Your data controller name, registered address and ICO registration number.
- The lawful basis you rely on for each purpose.
- How long you keep orders, accounts, messages and newsletter sign-ups.
- Every third party that receives data: payment provider, courier, email platform, hosting, and any analytics you add later.
- Whether you add analytics or marketing cookies — if you do, this site will need a consent banner, which it does not currently have because it does not currently need one.
- How people exercise their rights of access, rectification, erasure, portability and objection, and your contact address for doing so.
